St. Patrick's are just beginning our journey together. This is
the old St. Raphael website dressing up in new clothes. The
enterprise of building a new web site will begin soon, but
until then, please bear with us. We will do our best to have
our individual sites present the most accurate information. You
may find our sister website for St.
Patrick's helpful. If you need help, are confused or have
any questions, please contact our
staff.
Service Opportunities
- Each Wednesday, a meal is served at 5:00 p.m. at St.Patrick Foley Hall for those in need. If you are available to help get ready for the meal on Wednesday afternoon, please call Ann Schroeder, 583-9749. Desserts are always welcome and can be kept ahead of time. Please deliver them to the rectory. Thank you for your financial help as well.
Social Justice
Presentations at St. Patrick
Each Wednesday evening while St. Patrick students attend Religious Education classes, adults are invited to gather in church at 6:30 p.m. for informal presentations on various topics related to our faith journey. The next two weeks are excellent opportunities to learn more about Social Justice issues: January 25 , “Beatitudes Take Us Beyond the Commandments with Matthew Shadle professor of Theology at Loras College and on February 1, “What is the Common Good and How Do We Promote a Preferential Option for the Poor?” with Tom Johnson director of Hope House. Please join us at St. Patrick on these next evenings.
Fair Trade Coffee and More
Fair Trade Coffee, hot chocolate, baking chocolate,
chocolate bars, olive oil and more will be on sale at the
Cathedral on Sunday, January 29 . There will be free
samples of coffee and tea and hot chocolate and
brownies made from the cocoa. This ministry helps
small farmer cooperative around the world. There is so
much good work done for these farmers and our environment. Thank you for your participation.
Hope House - Catholic Worker
Please come and share your perspective on the Occupy Wallstreet movement. We will celebrate Evening Prayer at 5:00 PM with dinner and presentation following. JUST FAITH / JUST MATTERS
Sunday evenings, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the Raphael Rooms and begin on February 12 through Sunday, April 1 . The topic is “Living Solidarity: Government, the Federal Budget and the Common Good.” The goal of this topic is to engage the question: “What kind of society do we wish to become?” Please call Barbara Gatch, 582-7646, ext.224, if you would like more information or to register.
Religious Education
Religious Education classes at St. Raphael and St. Patrick will be held on Wednesday, January 25 at 6:30 PM. Parents please be present at the Cathedral for prayer with your children at 7:40 p.m. in the church.
St. Patrick parents please plan to be present for the Adult Faith Formation sessions on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. while your children are in class. On January 25 the topic is “Beatitudes Take Us Beyond the Commandments” with Matthew Shadle, professor of Theology at Loras College. All are welcome to join us at 6:30 p.m. in St. Patrick’s church.
Children’s Choir at St. Raphael will begin again on
Monday, January 23 at 4:00 p.m. in the Church. New members in grades 3 through 8 are welcome to join us.
High School Service Trip 2012
Would you like to attend Catholic Heart Work Camp this
summer? Sign up & Save your spot. We will travel to
Farmington, MI (outside Detroit) the week of June 24 to 30
for a week of service work, prayer, random dance parties,
games and making new friends. If you are currently in 8th
grade or high school you can attend this amazing

Vocations
Are you familiar with
the USA Council of Serra International? It is an
organization of lay men and women whose mission is to
foster and affirm vocations to the ministerial priesthood
and vowed religious life in the USA. More than 11,500
Serrans in over 300 clubs nationwide collaborate with
their bishops, parishes and vocation directors to fulfill

Information Meeting
Throughout January, Mazzuchelli Catholic Middle School will host two more introductory meetings for parents interested in enrolling their current fifth grader at Mazzuchelli for the 2012–2013 school year. The meetings are from 6:30 p.m.. to 7:30 p.m. in the Mazzuchelli library on Thursday, Jan. 26, and Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 9 a.m. in the Mazzuchelli commons. Visit the Holy Family Schools website

To conclude Catholic Schools Week, Holy Family Catholic Schools invites you to a waffle breakfast and music and art fair on Sunday, February 5, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Wahlert Catholic High School. Please plan to attend: “Circles Big View: The Causes of Poverty”, Tuesday, January 31, with dinner at 5:30 p.m. and Workshop at 6:30- 8:00 p.m. with presenter Jim Ott at Prescott Elementary School, 1151 White St. By collaboratively envisioning a more sustainable Dubuque, strategic planning can begin to address the causes of poverty in our community.
